You must be a Member of Cut N Shoot Texas Chapter #2525 to Register with the Cut-N-Shoot Message Center.

Getting "Logged In" to the Message Center
You must register to have full access and to be able to post messages where allowed.  Here is an overview of the registration process:

When you register, you must use your full name and H.O.G. Number as your Screen Name.  This is your full first name, last name, and H.O.G. Number as found on your National H.O.G. Card (with no space between them).  For example:

Screen Name: "John_Doe_US1234567" or "John_Doe_1234567"

When you fill in your Screen Name, e-mail, and password and accept the Registration Agreement, you will be sent a verification e-mail.  You must follow the link in the e-mail to validate you as a user.  A message will also be sent to the Administrator for validation by the Chapter Secretary or Membership Officer that you are a member of the Cut-N-Shoot H.O.G.  This complete process will take no more then 24 hours.  Once both validations are done, you will be able to post in the allowed areas.

Once you are verified as a Cut-N-Shoot H.O.G. Member and on the Message Center, you can go into your profile and change your Screen Name to your road name or whatever you would like to be known as when you post.

1.  Click "Calendar" on the top of the page on the Message Center to see the Calendar, if you haven't already
2.  Once the CNS Calendar is displayed, click on the event from any view that you may (or may not) have selected
3.  Once the Event Name(s) are displayed, click on the name of the event or the little blue arrow to the right of the Event Name to see the details of the event

Please Note:  You can also access the CNS Calendar by clicking an event within the Scheduled Events area at the bottom of the Main Index page of the CNS Message Center.  You do not have to log in to access the Calendar, but you may be required to enter the Member Section ID and password (found on your current CNS Membership Card) to access links from the Calendar to CNS Member only information.

I had a question come up recently from a Shooter who felt a little uneasy about a post on the Message Center because it might be considered "chat", and he was concerned that this might be against the CNS Message Center Usage Policy.

You may (or may not) know that the CNS Message Center Policies were updated in January 2007 to address misconceptions that had formed over time.  Like most things in life, just respect for others, common courtesy, and a little common sense is all that is called for here.  However, please do not post "classified ads" anywhere on the CNS Message Center.

I have it from the top that the CNS Message Center is intended to help folks stay connected, form relationships, and whatnot.  In fact, it was originally created to communicate Chapter information to the Membership and offer Members a way to chat with each other regarding rides, events, etc.  In all areas of the CNS Message Center, please feel free to express your opinions, questions, individuality, sense of humor, and the like as we are all unique threads in the fabric of this Chapter.

Although the Cut-N-Shoot H.O.G Announcements area is intended to communicate information to Chapter Members and the general public in a concise manner so posting is limited, registered CNS Message Center members have access to a greatly expanded list of forums to post topics in such as:

1.  Login to the CNS Message Center
2.  On the Main Index page of the CNS Message Center (accessed by clicking "Home" at the top of any page), scroll to the bottom and look for the "Invite a Friend" area on the left
3.  Enter the Shooter's name and email address
4.  Click the "Invite" button, and complete the process on the next page that is displayed

Please Note:  If you invite folks to join the CNS Message Center, they must be members of Cut-N-Shoot H.O.G., click "Register" at the top of any page, and complete the standard Registration process that requires CNS Membership verification by a Primary Officer.

Actually, most statistics and whatnot in the Portal are available within the CNS Message Center, but you have to make a click or 2 to get at the information so this seems better.

To access the Portal, click here or follow these steps:

1.  On the Main Index page of the CNS Message Center (accessed by clicking "Home" at the top of any page), scroll toward the bottom of the page to the Total Forum Statistics area
2.  Click the "View Portal" link within it on the left side

All "built in" features available in the CNS Message Center are active in the Portal.  Of course, guests, for example, see information based on what guests are allowed to see which is much less than a Member, etc.

1.  The "Shooter" on the left of the top banner will take you to the Cut-N-Shoot H.O.G. Website Home page.  If you mouse over it, a message to that effect is displayed.

2.  The top Navigation Bar will take you back to other areas of the Cut-N-Shoot H.O.G. Website.

Note:  To access any portion of the Members Section of the Cut-N-Shoot H.O.G. Website, use the ID and Password on your CNS Membership Card.  If you mouse over the link in the top Navigation Bar, a message to that effect is displayed.  I still get a lot of calls about this.

Of course, this type of feature can be abused, as has happened on other online forums, but on the CNS Message Center, one Member can not provide repeated positive/negative feedback on another Member (although a Member can reverse his/her opinion).  In addition, you can now see who the most recent contributors to a Member's Forum Karma are on the Member's Profile page.   So, this type of abuse is less likely to happen here.

Anyhooo, if a Member has been rated by another Member, a Forum Karma score will appear under the person's screen name and on their profile.  To contribute to a Member's Forum Karma, follow these steps:

1. Click the desired Member's screen name from anywhere on the CNS Message Center to access the Member's Profile page
2.  On the Member's profile page, there is a "Forum Karma" section near the center of the page with a clickable, and .  You can click the to add one point to a member, or click the to deduct one point.

Please Note:  You can not increase/decrease your own Karma Score.

FYI:
In addition, you can Rate Threads to show appreciation for good posts, ideas, and information.

So on the CNS Message Center, you have the two built-in features above available to provide feedback.  Of course, you can choose to use these features (or not) as you like.

1.  Select a topic just like you do when you read/reply to it
2.  Scroll to the bottom of any page on the thread and look for the area on the bottom left labeled, "Thread Rating"
3.  Select a rating from the pull down list and click, "Rate Thread"

Note:  You only can rate a thread once, but you can see how many ratings have been entered in the Thread Rating area on the bottom left of any page on the thread.  Again, the stars reflect the overall thread rating.

Confidentiality of Your Feedback
You can feel confident that if you choose to use this feature, the information will remain confidential to all Members of the CNS Message Center including Administrators, as the position here is that it is just not right for someone to view/judge this type of feedback to determine whether negative or positive feedback is "deserved".

FYI:
In addition, you can us the Forum Karma Feature to provide feedback on your opinion of the overall contributions of other Members.

1.  Click on the "Members Center" link at the top of any page
2.  Within the Member Center page, click on "Preferences" under "Private Messaging" within the left column
3.  Under "Basic Settings" on the Private Message Preferences page, you may check the box "E-mail me when I receive new Private Messages", if you wish to be notified in this manner
4.  Click "Save"

To Receive Popup Notifications:
1.  Click on the "Members Center" link at the top of any page
2.  Within the Member Center page, click on "Board Settings" under "Personal Forum Preferences" within the left column
3.  Under "Preference Settings" on the Board Settings page, you may check the box "Private Message Popup", if you wish to be notified with a popup each time you receive a new Private Message
4.  Click "Save"
