New Rider Course
Even if you've never swung a leg over a motorcycle before, don't worry. The Rider's Edge® New Rider Course
is designed to make those new to motorcycling feel comfortable and to give you the knowledge and skills you need to
ride with confidence.
The Cost
The cost of the New Rider Course at Texan Harley-Davidson is $295 for one person. If multiple members of the
same family sign up for the same class, it's $500 for two persons, and $700 for three persons. Remember, the
price includes the use of a Buell® Blast® motorcycle for class riding sessions.
The Schedule
Usually the course is scheduled over five days, Thursday to Monday. Weekday sessions are held in the evening
at the dealership classroom. Saturday and Sunday sessions run all day and are taught on a controlled range
near the dealership.
Attendance at each session is mandatory - if you miss a class for any reason, you'll have to reschedule so you can
take the course again from start to finish. The schedule may vary depending on the dealership, so be sure to
contact a participating dealer for class times and availability.
The Card
You will receive your Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF) RiderCourseSM completion card after passing
a multiple-choice written knowledge test and a riding skills evaluation.
Depending on which state you live in, this card may exempt you from having to take the written and/or riding portion
of your motorcycle license test (be sure to contact your participating dealership in your state for exemption information).
Depending on your insurance provider, the completion card can also qualify you for a substantial discount - usually 10 to 15% -
on motorcycle coverage. Check with your insurance company for details.

Skilled Rider Course
Take your riding to the next level with the Rider's Edge® Skilled Rider Course. Because the more you know about the road, the
more it has to offer. There is a better rider in all of us - no matter how long you've been riding. It's time to get more
out of the road, more out of the ride, and more out of yourself.
The Course
The Skilled Rider Course is a six to seven hour course held entirely on the range over one or two days. The course uses the
proven curriculum of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF) Experienced RiderCourseSM Suite, with some
enhancements developed by Harley-Davidson enthusiasts. Participants use their own motorcycles, or rentals, to enhance the
following skills: control at low speeds, risk management, limited space maneuvers, cornering judgment, stopping quickly in a curve,
swerving and stopping quickly, multiple curve maneuvers and surmounting objects.
Upon completion of the course, students will earn a Skilled Rider Course pin and patch set, as well as a completion card from the MSF
that may assist you in getting possible discounts on insurance.
The Instructors
Rider's Edge Skilled Rider Course instructors are dedicated enthusiasts who have received certification from the MSF, as well as additional
training from Harley-Davidson.
The Cost
The Skilled Rider Course cost is $100 ($75.00 for Cut N Shoot Texas Chapter members).

More Information
Completion of either the New Rider Course or the Skilled Rider Course entitles you to a $50 gift certificate from Harley-Davidson (if you are a
current HOG member), good toward parts, accessories and clothing. You must submit the
H.O.G.® Safe Rider Skills Form
 with a copy of your certificate and course receipt to
H.O.G. to receive the gift certificate.
